As soon as I finished my studies (including a B.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A. in French from Middlebury College, and a Ph.D. in French from Duke University), I picked up and moved to France. I couldn’t wait. I love living in France, and have spent twelve years of my life here so far.
Since I speak French fluently, I am able to teach my clients in English or French. During my career, I’ve also transitioned from ten years of teaching classrooms full of students to seven years of working with young adults one-on-one. I’ve found this change to be so enriching, as it allows me to get to know each person and his or her needs very well. Seeing the clients I work with gain self-confidence and new skills is the most rewarding part of what I do.
In my free time, I love to read, play piano, and walk around Paris and Versailles. The Covid restrictions of the past years also led me to become an avid baker and cook!
Another little-known fact about me is that I have also lived in Sub-Saharan Africa (Senegal and Cameroon). Getting to know a number of cultures firsthand has really helped me to become a more open-minded teacher. It’s also given me a love of African dishes such as ceebu jin and yassa, as well as African dance.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Meg
